Title: Table Saw Help.

EDIT: - found a 30mm spade bit on ebay.

Table saw question....

I don't know any of the specs of the table saw off hand...so I'm sorry for lack of info.

But here's my problem.

I'll measure a piece 2 or 3 times. But when I cut it...one side is the right width....but the other is about 1/8" off. On almost EVERY piece.

This is a huge pain when you're trying to build a basic box. lol.

Example. I've got a piece that needs to be 10" x 3" (the wood is 3/4" MDF). Cutting from a 10" x 4" piece...I'll cut and it'll be 3" on one end.....2 7/8" on the other.

I think the blade wobbles the closer it gets to the end of the cut. I'm gonna get my father to look at it since its his table saw. But if it turns out that its not the saw blade...what could I do to help avoid this issue?

I hate having to sand every piece that comes off the table saw.

I wanna just start cutting the wood out with the router. Which I've got a table router and a regular router. Which method would be best? I probably need to build a full on router table though.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Are you using a guide whilst sawing?  Something to keep the wood in line?

1/8" wobble would be hard to believe. is the blade tight?

measure from the fence at a 90 degree angle to the front and back of the blade. are they the same?

Yep. I've got a sort of guide box that I use to help me make quicker cuts. Its got a back, front and slot along the bottom board for the blade slide through. It has rails along the bottom that fit into the guide grooves.

Only thing I can think of is the motor is causing it....or my guide box isn't straight along the back. Because the front edge that gets cut first is always right. Its the rear edge thats always off.

This may seem an obvious question, but are you cutting on the outside of both lines? 1/8" seems about the width of a table saw blades.

adjust your fence so it's parallel with the blade...

Yep, sounds like your guide is off.

When I first got into woodworking, I used a t-square to make all my cut lines. After I made all my cuts, I realized that every edge was off by 1/8". Turns out my T-square was not square at all.

Moral of the story: always check with a 90 degree square.

well crap....gonna have to build a new guide then.  thanks for the input guys. this'll hopefully get rid of all my headaches.
