Just seeing if someone could message me on aim and i can ask questions instead of type it all out.
Just got a new Neo Geo MVS 4-25 v.3 cab.

You'd still have to type it out on AIM anyway, just in smaller chunks. Posting it here helps others with similar problems. ;)

Well im not sure if you want to see a picture of the cab but im guessing you know what it looks like. :-)
First off: Jamma boards. What is all the talk about and would it work into the Neo Geo that i have?
also, one joystick is non responsive and buttons do not work. Is it fairly easy to replace myself? Where can i order some parts that would fit my machine?
p.s. some history here.......I got the neo geo 4 cart system for free from some guy that just bought a laundry place and said he was throwing it away and the screen had no scratches on it and had 4 games on it-Metal Slug 1,King of fighters 97, Art of fighting, and samuari showdown 2. :-)

Let me preface by saying I've no experience with actual arcade cabs. But for the non responsive joystick and buttons, I'd say just as a basic starting point is to check the wiring and make sure everything is connected properly. Check the wiki, the links on the side and/or your favorite search engine for a quick primer on hooking things up. Hint: If you can hook up a stereo you can do this.
JAMMA is an arcade standard for easy game conversion (very over-simplified explanation). Look into this or similar for JAMMA compatability for your Neo-Geo:

It is sold out but no worries. But i have no clue how to install it.
Should i just stick to buying regular MVS carts or go for the Jamma to play a lot of games?

It's your call really, depends if you really like Neo-Geo games or not. Remember that as it stands you will be limited to games that use 4 buttons or less and although the JAMMA standard is 3 buttons, you will be putting yourself out of some fighting games like MK or Street Fighter unless you install more buttons. If you're unsure, rip the lot out and MAME it.

I would love to know how to mod these things out. Im extremely confused still about some things. But i am learning.
The left speaker on my Cab barely makes noise while the right is perfect.
Also,One side to the speaker case is open but the other is locked and i have no key. Any hints to unlocking it?

No,but really,easiest way to getting it unlocked without damaging the Machine.

If you can get to the back of the lock, even with difficulty, by far the easiest thing to do is undo the screw that holds on the cam. That'll instantly "unlock" it, and you can open it up for further work. If you can't get to the back, before you try to drill it, you might try the old "screwdriver and vise grips" approach. It tends to be a little less messy, but it doesn't always work (and it WILL destroy the lock as badly as drilling it will). Take a large flat-blade screwdriver and jam it in the lock, then clamp on a pair of vise-grips and turn as hard as you can; use a cheater bar (aka big piece of pipe) if necessary for more leverage. Most locks will eventually fail.
If it's a round key type lock (the "high security" type), you're just about screwed. There are special bits for drilling them out, but they are expensive and usually only work once or twice before they need replaced. They're also not easy to get in some places as they are considered "locksmith tools".

Usually you open up the coin door and reah around the underside of the panel, there should be some latches,unlatch them. If you can't open the coin door(I'm saying this since you are havin problems with locks elsewhere) try from the back. All five cabs I've worked around used this scheme.
