Title: Sega Space Trek
Post by: highrise on January 12, 2009, 11:04:11 pm
Hi guys, I'm new on here but I've been collecting various game related bits and pieces for many years. Anyway, I have a Sega Space Trek Cocktail table I am thinking about restoring. It did not have the original board in there so at the moment it has a MAME set up, but I've done nothing to it other than remove the original monitor which was not working but which I still have (I'm going to get an expert to look at it) so if that works then restoring it to its original glory is a possibility and one I would like to explore. This is quite a rare machine I believe so for a while it seemed the only way to get Space Trek running in it again would be to emulate, but I'm now wondering if anyone on here might know of a board that might be available? I've searched high and low...

Hopefully the monitor is repairable as finding a working Sega vector is going to be harder than finding the original boards (from what I've been told anyway).  You could always post a WTB thread here and on klov looking for the pcb, or you can contact eldoradogames.com (http://"http://www.eldoradogames.com/") or elektronforge.com (http://"http://www.elektronforge.com/") and see if they have a known working board set for sale currently.  From the sounds of it you're taking on quite the project but I think it will be well worth it in the end if you're patient.  Just don't expect to have everything done in a matter of weeks ;^).  Good luck and keep us updated!

Space Trek is not vector

indeed it is a CRT, not a vector monitor. Space Trek is often confused with Star Trek which is vector. I'll investigate KLOV but as I'm in the UK I'm not sure how much use it will be to me  :(

Well at least everyone now knows I have zero reading comprehension skills :).  Someone just offered me a Star Trek so I guess I still had it on my brain.  Sorry about that ;).

Both actually.  I'm still considering it but I've already bought so many projects in the last few months that I doubt I'll buy them.  We'll see :)....
