Hi I'm trying to map 4 keys to my 4 buttons. I have the standard Mame key layout. The problem is that I cant figure out how to map more than one keyboard key to one button.
I'm trying to get the keyboards keys: z, alt left,0 and c to the buttons(spectrum emu)...so what I want is two keyboard keys to each button..is this possible ? Is that the macro function ? Cause I can only get one key functioning at one button at the same time...Can anyone post a screen shot how to do it ? :banghead: thanks

As far as I know you can't map 2 keys to one button other than using shift key functionality.
-
That's mean you have to hold player 1 button pushed in all the time...hard to play that way...so the only solution is more buttons ?
-
Shifted buttons aren't meant for gameplay purposes. If you want more buttons, BUY more buttons.

I was just thinking... Can't the IPAC's be programmed on the fly depending on what emulator you are running? I thought I saw something regarding that sometime ago... Not 100% sure though.
If so then you could just have it re-program the IPAC every time Spectrum is run...

Thats sound like a good solution..if I only knew how...at the moment I put something heavy on the 1 player (shift) button ...it works but I wish there was a better solution...and I dont want more than 4 buttons on my arcade :D

It can be programmed on the fly. A lot of frontends support this, you pick a winipac config file for each emulator, and the front end loads it before launching the emulator. If your frontend doesn't directly support it, you can create a batchfile that loads the config file then launches your emulator.

I using Maximus Arcade...gonna try that ...thanks
When I save key assignment in Winpac it becames a .ipc file...where do I upload this in Maximus Arcade ?
-
I've never used maximus arcade. I know on my cabinet I have files like default.ipc, n64.ipc, genesis.ipc, and with gameex you just select these files in each emulators page and it loads them for you. Maximus lists this as a feature, but I'm not sure how it's done.

If you can set an executable to run before the game launches, it should just be:
"winipac profile.ipc"
then if you can set it to change after running, have it change back to your default.

Another option to the remap on the fly option is to stick the ipac with the spectrum emu keys, and remap mame's "Input (general)".
