Title: Static /sound problem in mame 32
Post by: rlemmon on January 09, 2009, 10:26:23 am
Hi guys, I recently reinstalled windows now I'm having a Major sound problem with Mame 32 version 102.   I'm getting a static sound throughout games at different times. Even really old stuff like galaga.

It makes a static sound and cuts out the games sounds for a second.

I made sure all the windows audio drivers were installed and updated.

I also tried adjusting the audio latency in Mame 32. This didn't help.

Does anyone know what this could be ? It's driving me crazy

Hardware.

sounds like a short in your speaker wire...
maybe your soundcard (or onboard sound) is going bad...

I had this EXACT same problem. My issue was with my amplyfier. I am using a home stereo amp to power the speakers in my cab. My Pioneer amp went bad and was causing these issues. I replaced it with another one I had and the problem was solved.

I doubt you are setup like I am, but if you are, then switch amps.
