The horizontal wood piece above the control panel on my Donkey Kong which has the instruction decal on it has the black laminate badly damaged (the wood isn't in very good shape either so painting wouldn't come out too good). I'm looking for either an entire repro piece or a source for a small piece of black vinyl laminate that matches the original so I can re-apply it. Anyone here have any extra I can buy from them or a website that sells really small sections of it (smallest I've found is 2ft by 18ft from Parts Express and that would leave me with a lot of extra laminate and I'm not sure if what they have correctly matches the original. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

I just placed an order for a bunch of matte black vinyl from thisoldgame. I don't have a DK to compare, but if you give me the size you need I might be able to send you a little piece. I ordered both matte and textured black, so let me know which one. Here (http://www.thisoldgame.com/Partspages/VinylsPg.htm) are the ones I ordered.

I received my order today from this old game and unfortunately the black vinyl laminate is going to be far too thin and not robust enough to repair this piece of wood on my Donkey Kong so I'm still looking for a solution.

Take a look at Neilyboy's DK restoration thread over in the RESTORATIONS forum. He did exactly what you're trying to do and I believe he listed his source for the black vinyl too, but you'll have search through his postings there.
