I didn't hear anything about it... but this would be one game that cell shading would be cool with. It looks like it might work well on an arcade cabinet..
Worth downloading the demo anyway.

Konami had this at E3 it was cel shaded and was a blast to play. I can't wait to get it. The article here says gba and pc only, but i know it's coming to all three consoles as well.
-
ya, played at e3. i could'ave sworn i saw ps2/xbox/gc on the booth. maybe i was mistaken. i hope not
-
Yah I heard it was coming out for on the consoles aswell.

yeah, I saw some coverage on this in a few magazines. I am holding VERY HIGH hopes for this game. I can't wait to get my hands on it to give it a try....
-
InsertCredit.com has a review of this game (I believe it's the same one) in their E3 coverage. They hated it... and I trust insertcredit and mmcafe over just about anything else... certainly over a magazine or commercialized website clearly in on the hype machine.
On a related note, do yourself a favor and go read insertcredit! It's some of purest video-game journalism out there, though they tend to focus more on rarer/import stuff. Same goes for mmcafe.
-
I just searched around on insertcredit. They seem like they are geared towards consoles.. But it was nice to see that they still do a n64 or dreamcast review every so often...
But they didn't have a search, and I couldn't find the TMNT review.
But for me... I will wait for the demo version. And of course try it!
A lot of newer gamers don't like the classic arcade type of gameplay. So I would be sceptical about a console website review on it.
But then again, I DON'T BUY ANY ANY ANY games without trying a demo first. I've been burned... bad...(penasilian please)
-
Insert Credit talked a little bit about it in their E3 impressions.
They said it played like the old games. The only problem was when the old games came out they were groundbreaking. Now scrolling fighters have been done to death and its just boring.
I'd be more inclined to keep an eye on Viewtiful Joe from Capcom. It's the first scrolling beat-em-up in years to try something new. You can block, dodge, combo etc. just like in a sophisticated 1vs1 2d fighter. The graphical style is also very interesting.
Hopefully Viewtiful Joe will pave the way for a resurgance in the scrolling fighter. It certainly needs a new direction.

Worth downloading the demo anyway.
Where did you download the demo? I didn't see it on the site you linked.

I'm assuming he's speaking when the games released, he'll download the demo and try it before plunking down his hard earned duckets (or otherwise earned duckets) for the game...
I just hope it's better than the last cell shaded retro game to be re-released/done Dragonslair 3D ...

He made it clear why he downloads demos. I am/was just searching for clarification on wether or not it was available from that site or another one for that matter. I wouldn't know unless I asked.

No harm, no foul

I heard that dragons lair 3d was really good!
but no demo... I haven't bought it...
I stand firm on this now!
(and no I don't have the demo... otherwise I probably would have written up a review of it)

beat-em-ups haven't been done to death in ages.......there are like 4 Capcom games that satisfy the criteria (Final Fight, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Captain Commando and the best of em all, The Punisher)..a coupel of non-capcom ones (aliens vs predator, two tribes)..and then a bunch of sorry ones.
I'm sick of 2 and 3D 1 one 1 FIGHTERS myself.....the world needs more side-scrolling TMNT style beat-em-ups ;)
any game that allows you to

any game that allows you to
yes.......

watch for viewtiful joe. that looks like it might be better than the old beat 'em ups, and it is being developed by capcom. too pad that it is gamecube exclusive. i have a 'cube, but i will want to use arcade controls on that sucker

You can use a stick. And it works really well according to a few VF and SC players I know who've played the demo.
Viewtiful Joe gets me excited because it seems to be trying to add some depth to scrolling beat-em-ups. It keeps things in a 2d plain but adds sophistication in other areas.
The new TMNT makes the game 3d but does nothing with the gameplay. It doesn't look to move the genre past the button mashing simplicity that ultimately killed it.

fyi ign.com has pics from new tmnt

Actually READ insertcredit some. It's not a just a console site, though they do do a lot of stuff on consoles too. It's an VIDEO GAME sight, and covers the full gamut.

Leonard Part 6. Probably not his best movie... ;)
My question is why can't they put some cel-shadows with these celshaded games?

Um...not right away.
If you mean that they all have the same color armbands, I think that was the way the orginal was done too.
Either way, what do you mean?

I think Leonard is supposed to be LeonardO.
So, according to this, are the others Ralph, Donnie, and Mike?
