Title: Namco Arcade Stick travel shortening
Post by: Stormdemon on June 22, 2003, 06:29:35 pm
Hi I have a Namco Arcade Stick. Do you know how can I shorten the travel of the stick? I've tried adding some tape around the cilinder that pushes the microswitches but the result is that the stick returns to center with difficulties and sometimes switches keep on being pressed.

The namco stick already has a very short travel. Why modify it... it uses a japanese mechanism so it's already very accurate and fast. Why shorter, most can't handle that already...

No way, it's far longer than my psm30 or the universal stick. It takes ages to activate the microswitches. I believed jap sticks are about precission but if jap sticks are like this namco or the sticks on naomi cabinets, I definitelly prefer our european/american sticks (apart from happ's supers which I hate). Of course my fav is Ultimarc's T-stick... that's short travel!

My Namco has pretty short travel as well, but it's pretty new. I only got it a few months ago (it was sitting in a toystore for the past 5 years).

Maybe it's just a bit worn out. Open it up anyway and have a look.
