Hi guys, I want to set up mamewah and a virtual/ mame pinball i think its called but need some help as I cant find a guide on installing this mame pinball and its doing my head in. I thought I installed it but cant find it anywhere on my computer.
Hope someone can put me out my misery.

I don't know if you're still using the package I made, if you are you can download the Visual Pinball/ Pinmame Add-on from here (http://www.marcianitos.org/foro/showthread.php?t=10321).
Just unzip it inside your C:\ drive. You should have a new folder called "Instalar fonts", open it and double click on the file called "instalar fonts". All you tables (roms) should go inside the tables folder.
-
Is it the jugeros one if so yes im still using that and was worried that installing a new thing would mess it all up. I dont have any of the table roms or the program itself yet was kinda hoping someone could help me with all that. Any specific versions and programs I need to download?
-
The add-ons don't overwrite any of your settings. It simply adds new emulators. Just download the Add-on for visual pinball I pointed to in my post. You would have to do a search for the tables since I have no idea if it's permitted to post links to them.
Here's (http://www.geocities.com/megalast_/visualpinball/) a link to some freeware ones.
-
Iv never used it either so im not sure how it works Im guessing it similar syatem to mame with rom files for each table. I inserted that ghost n goblins free table but I couldnt get it to work on mamewah the screen just goes black? any ideas
-
Did you try the game Top Speed. It's also included in the package.
-
Yes same happened with top speed :( do i need to alter some settings? If I load up the editor away from mamewah and load up a table and select play I can get it to work just not on mamewah.
-
Post your Mamewah.log.
-
Where can I find the log mate?
-
It should be in C:\juegos\Mamewah\
-
Is this it?

Go to C:\juegos\Mamewah\config\pinball and open pinball.ini (you might not see the extension)
Change the line
emulator_commandline C:\juegos\vpinball\closemul.exe -play -"[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{nodosbox}{safelaunch}to
emulator_commandline C:\juegos\vpinball\closemul.exe -play -"[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{dosbox}{safelaunch}

Cheers buddy that kinda worked now It loads up the table in the background but over it this screen appears. Also when I press exit it doesn't go back to mamewah but rather 3 option appear resume, exit etc and finally the mouse icon can be seen.
-
Could you post the pinball.ini file you just edited?

Hi mate i tried it again today and it worked 9 times out of 10 only problem on pressing exit on the game it showed this screen very briefly. Is there a way to avoid seeing this at all?
-
The issue with the table editor in the Ghouls & Ghosts table only happened to me the first time I tried loading the table. The second time it went straight to the table.

That screen pops up because of the method that is used to close the table. For know there is no way to remove it.
-
Thats cool I can put up with it thanks for all your help mate really appreciate it
-
Iv got a table and a rom set im trying to play as can only get top speed to work so far. Iv put the roms in the rom folder and the table in the table folder I go to load the game and it just brings up a full screen dot matrix style screen and i cant get to play the game or even see the table any reason why? The games iv tried so far are T2 and Street fight 2

You need to run the VPinmame setup file and somewhere in there there will be an option saying "run full screen" or something like that. You need to "deselect" this option as it is referencing to the DMD not the pinball table itself. Again, not the visual pinball program, the vpinmame setup.exe. I don't recall the exact steps, sorry, and I'm at work so I can't check.

Excellent stuff it works now

Any suggestions for some good tables?
-
It's easier to point you to select authors then to specific tables, especially since I do not know your pinbal taste. Using google, search for "visual pinball jpsalas" and "visual pinball pacdude" and finally "visual pinball Scapino". Note that many of these vpinmame tables may be CPU intensive, so your CPU speed may need to be good. If you find some tables are clunky and you have a top form PC, you may need to tweak some settings; we'll talk about that another day ;).
There is a VP table author named "Destruk" which you can find his tables on vpforums.com. He is probably responsible for 40% of all table releases and his tables are great fun and more importantly, are very accurate and playable. But a lot of people don't consider him first when thinking of "great tables" because they want flash first, playability after. Their loss IMHO.
There are also great original tables out there that don't require vpinmame, so these tend to be more playable, as there is less overhead. Any tables by Bob, Eala, Shiva (his Trigon is fantastic!), starman are really good and I'm forgetting a lot more too! Anyway, check them out when you get the chance and again, this is from memory, I'm certainly forgetting some authors and specific tables.
When you get the chance, check out Future Pinball. It needs a good videocard and imho, the nudging physics are off (and the physics quality are certainly bound to the CPU you have, so the more powerful box, the better physics you will notice, the less powerful CPU used, the more "floaty" the ball is). The games are fun and they look spectacular, truly reflecting that it is indeed a next gen pinball construction set and the future should be very nice indeed.

Thanks buddy I have had a look and seen some really nicely made tables do you know if there is a good working Lord Of the Rings the ones I have tried dont display the scores and have glitches on the big red monster in the middle of the table.
-
LOTR: I am aware of 3 different versions and all worked fine.
Jpsalas is very nice, has a "close-up" view that I like with great graphics. The balrog is not animated realistically but a recent post on vpforums.com suggested a new version is coming out with fixes and an improved balrog.
Destruk's version worked great, and I thought it played fantastic. You might be able to find it on vpforums.
Shockman's community table: I am not certain but I think it was Destruk's table with several fixes/updated that made it very excellent. I am not certain where that table is hosted.
