HI All,
Noob question. I'm building an upright cab and want to be able to use it for media applications as well. I know many of the FEs allow mp3 playback, but do any support the ability to play movies? If so is the media player integrated or would a seperate one be required (recommendations?)

Many FE's allow multiple emulators, and as such allow you to have different command lines per "emulator". You could set one up to load your media player, and if it is done right, have control over it from the control panel. (This depends on FE and the media software you are using).
Beyond that, there have been discussions about playing movies and vids on a cab, but the general agreement is that it is pointless. Do you really want to stand in front of your cab and watch a movie? Even with a stool, it would be tedious and most likely less than entertaining. Leave your movies for the couch, I say.

A media player isn't integrated, but people have started creating movie themes for HyperSpin. I think most are using a command line player called VLC Player.

I have a PC set up on a OLD!!! 52 inch projection TV ( like 15 years old) has 3 bulbs 1 yellow 1 green 1 red.
It plays movies, console EMUs, Mame.
windows text SUCKS on it. I have a 15 inch PC monitor on the top just for this reason. Track ball is on top of TV also.
Video card has 2 AGP slots and 1 SVID. out.
1 svid to RCA converter and 1 VGA monitor cloned .
I only use PC moitor for navigation.
all else I watch the big screen
not hard to set up
games an video are fine

I know it is often hard to read your posts (you type like an excited puppy sometimes), but when you say "bulbs" are you refering to CRTs? If you are then it would be a red, green, and blue setup (not yellow green and red). I was going to repost your post translated, but figured it would just make me look like a grammar nazi.
And yes, trying to show any OS screen on a TV is next to pointless, as the TV (pre HD anyways) will not have the physical resolution to display fine detail, such as hires text.
I guess DW's setup makes sense tho. Have the cab used to select the movie, and play it on the second video out to the TV...

This is what caught me tho: He said projection TV, not projector. All of the projection TVs I have seen from the 90's used 3 B/W CRTs (each tinted a primary color and their brightness pushed way up due to the magnification [no video games are safe on these]). The 3 CRTs would be in the back of the Ptv with mirrors/lenses focusing them on a fresnel lens (AKA the screen). Maybe there were other types out there in the early 90's that I wasnt aware of... Enlighten me? (ok, stupid "bulb" joke with the enlighten :D )
