Title: Hantarex Polo 25" with 8liners chassis problem
Post by: Cisek on January 04, 2009, 03:55:38 pm
Hi
Since I bought new 8liners chassis to my Hantarex Polo 25" tube, the h-pos pot isn't working properly. When I try to adjust it, the image "jumps" from one side to the other. There is also a screen jittering. It can be noticed only when very very close to the screen, but it's present.

After a 4 months of usage, a new isse have arrived. After A few hours since I turn my machine on (I've got MK2 cabinet converted to mame and using soft15khz) there is this "click" sound and the image is a little wider vertical and darker than before the "click". I think it's something with high voltage, however B+ seems to be fine.
 Here is the video:

Please help, if you can.

On the original Polo chassis, I had none of this issues, however my flyback got cracked.

the width jumping to max could be a faulty transistor but that is unlikely on a new chassis unless poor quality control
the horizontal shift can be affected by horizontal hold or the sync

the original polo chassis does not require a isolation transformer, does the 8 liners need one?

No, it don't need isolation tranformer.

Do you have any clues, why the image after few hours of "working" get broden in vertcal and darker?

it does sound like the b+ actually, maybe the filter cap is bad
not a good sign for a new chassis.how old is it?

I bought it, new form genao.com 5 months ago. Maybe it is the tubes fault? I remember that on the original chassis the v-size pot had a very little range of adjust, I even couldn't fit the screen.
I am considering buying a tv with rgb. Does 25" tv will fit in original MK2 cab, without any modifications?

i would suggest you try using an adapted scart lead on on a normal tv to see if you get a good picture
jamma board will run on a scart tv but you need to follow the tutorial on this forum

imo you would have been better off repairing your polo chassis,i do not know why your 8liners chassis is doing what it is but i would suggest it is a quality problem

I was connecting my pc with soft15khz to the 21" samsung tv, through scart rgb and everything was ok. I also tried to repair the flyback on my old Polo chassis, however it cracked again after few days.
Do you know where can I buy some other chassis that will fit my tube?
I am seriously thinking about fiting in cabinet 25" tv, but I don't know if it have the same size of frame, as the 25" Hantarex Polo and I heard that tv is tiring eyes quicker than arcade monitor, because it have bigger radiation. What you think about putting in the tv with scart rgb?

you can't repair a flyback once it shorts internally but you can replace it very easily

there is no difference between a 25" tv and a 25" rgb monitor regarding radiation,as for the frame size-well you will find out once you try to change it

i bet you tried to repair the crack in the flyback with some araldite,am i correct?

Well then I'll give it a try. Which tv brands do you recommend?
About flyback it wasn't me who fixed it, I gave it to profesionalist, he told me that he repaired a lot of flybacks and they were working for years, that's a pity that mine didn't last long.
