Hi
Im trying to dismantal a simpsons machine http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9550
All the panels are screwed together, i am undoing the screws but many of the panels still wont come apart? Are they edges glued as well?
If so i may as well give up now trying to get the panels apart.

Most arcade cabs are screwed, glued, and nailed together- sometimes all 3 at the same spot. There's basically no way to remove a panel without virtually destroying the thing- as far as I know anyway.
-
why dismantling it ?
-
The main reason to dismantal was to get it through a small doorway.
-
Heheheheh
I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I ended up buying another cab. x_x

I have tried on four different machines, of varied ages, to take them apart... it CAN NOT be done with any real reduction of damage to the parts.

It's much less work than some would think to remove a window. If you have a large picture window and some help, that can be removed and replaced in a couple maybe 3 hours. I can imagine many more than that trying to touch up and fill wood. Good luck.

Yes window is a posibility.......
If you guys were having to sand and re paint a machine like this is it the norm to paint it while the panels are assembled then, rather than break it apart?
Also can a good paint finish be achieved without spraying? ie using a roller?
What sort of paints should i be looking for?

I've never seen an upright that comes apart nicely, other than Nintendo cabs and you rarely need to take those apart to get them through the door.
How much space do you need ? I would rather remove a door frame than a window, but that may not be enough to get you through.

btw, it might be easier to dismantle to door... really...
