I'll never really understand the point of console browsers. Do people really have a console in a house with an internet connection that dont have a computer?

There are web based games designed specifically for use on the Wii.

It's also occasionally handy for viewing things like Youtube when you have guests over and want to show them a video.  That way they don't all have to stop what they're doing and file into the office to crowd around the comparably tiny computer monitor.

People were doing that before a mojority of consoles were tube enabled. I had a friend who refused to buy a PC for years because he subscribed to WebTV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSN_TV). That coupled with his PS2 (at the time) filled all of his browsing and gaming needs.

Notice how I said CONSOLE broswers and not Wii? Saturn,Dreamcast,DS,PSP,etc  What game can be played on the Wii browser that cant be played on a PC?

My PC hooks up to my TV , my computer monitor is a 22" Widescreen Samsung LCD My TV is a 62" Widescreen Samsung LCD. Also, this has no bearing on the browsers being on the PSP and or DS

Note that there is a hell of a lot of room between "don't have a computer" and what he describes.

Why would people browse the web on a console?  Because they want to.  Do they need some other reason?

What I described is what I had. How many people today have internet and a console in their house and no computer. I cant argue with the "because they want to" its like asking why people incorrectly load MDF into a truck would do P90x and then brag about it on an arcade forum, its because they want to I guess.

Tiny, I'm hung like a tic-tac. I bought a nice TV because Im a movie buff, bought a nice monitor because it was on sale.

I don't care that anybody asked, that was way too much information. Boasting that you need a RAM 1500 so you can put your dick somewhere while you drive is one thing, everyone knows you're just acting like an ass. Admitting that a gnat has a bigger penis than you is just too much.

If you can't see the difference between trying to motivate a group of friends to do something positive for themselves and posting the size of every display screen in your house...   :dizzy:  Think this one through for a couple minutes.

It works too.  When I see that Chad is managing to do it every day it makes me feel like a ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- if I don't.

Its a fallacy to think I can out ---meecrob--- Chad. My point was, web browsing is better done on a computer. The tiny penis joke was funny and I went with it.

Well, of course it better to browse the 'net on a PC .. but it's still cool doing so on the Wii, and now that I found out there are wii-specific web games (thanks, ChadTower), it's even cooler :)

(I also think it's cool to have internet radio on the PSP, though I'm sure that's also better on a PC)

While this is wise to concede, since it is very true, I committed no douchebaggery in this instance.

Meh, I was just ---smurfing--- with you. Some retarded ---fudgesicle--- nuts around here keep putting one of these things (http://www.bullsballs.com/) on their trucks and the discussion kind of reminded of it.

I don't think anyone will disagree with you on that, but browsing on a console is a good way to go in certain situations.  Few people have their computers hooked up to their tv (although I'm sure plenty of people here do, it's still not that common in the average home), so anytime browsing on the tv is preffered (such as a quick browse when you watching tv and don't want to get off the couch, or you want to show a large group of people a video or website, so using the computer monitor would be too small) then browsing on the console is an excellent choice.

I actually paid for the web browser on the Wii (was too late for the free version). That was before much games were available on the Wii so I used it mostly to enable my kid to play flash games on the Wii rather than on my PC.

I think the web browsers on consoles are a bit cumbersome. I'd love to be able to quickly check the weather predictions (with rainfall radar), TV schedule and news headlines. It's just too much work to do this on the Wii browser though. I can do this quicker/better on my PDA.

I can see the novelty of it. I don't know how this got into some sort of debate as though console browsers were evil, I merely stated my opinion that I don't think they are worth using, even if free. Should I say whether or not I'm posting this from my cellphone? :p

I do post from my cellphone (PDA) now and then  :P

I think the forum even shows when you are posting from a cellphone. I've seen that Saint was posting from a cellphone (IIRC he was using WAP) and the posts got a special icon.

That's classy.  Especially the blue ones.

Now fine your most p-whipped friend, get him one of those, and put it on a belt for him.

I like sitting back on the couch and watching Youtube vids through my Wii, especially the TED Talks. Using a Wiimote to navigate a browser isn't the headache that it would be with a "gamepad".

'nuff said.
