Title: Confused by Ultrastik Programming. Help wanted.
Post by: Chris2 on January 02, 2009, 12:43:21 pm
I want to make my Ultrastik switch to a 4 way diagonals map when I start Q-Bert (and back upon exiting) but I can't understand the instructions given on Ultimarc's site. Could someone help me out?

What part is giving you trouble?
What setup are you trying to use it with (front-end/MAME version/etc...)?

I'm running GameEx on XP, using MameUI32 0.128, and I can't figure out how to make the Ultrastik change from normal analog setting to the 4-way diagonals only used in Q-bert and back again upon exiting the game.

I've never used GameEX.
I don't know how they handle preapp commands, or if they even allow that.
Hopefully someone here knows, and can help you.

If not, you might try the GameEX forums.
Someone there would know for sure.

Well, if you're only concerned with mame, it does the mapping internally, unless you specify something else via a U360 plug-in. So there is a default diagonal mapping in mame for Q-bert, already.

.....I think, anyways. If not, look up Mamejoymap by Headkaze.
