Hello,
I'm completely new here so I hope this doesn't sound stupid. I have an X-men Children of the atom arcade cabinet I'm planning to restore starting with the control panel. It's a metal panel with plexi over it(the cabinet isn't it's original, so no clue on why it's metal. I'm used to seeing wood ones, for the area/time) And I was looking at doing Ball tops. I saw the ultimarc J-stiks and was wondering if that would be good for a fighting game. Anyone know? Also are ultimarc's light up buttons good for fighters too? Thank you.

this is real question of personal taste, for me the best sticks/buttons you can get are sanwa and seimitsu
also much depends on you existing setup as to whether you can install certain sticks
this is a place i use

ultrimarc has some good stuff
there sticks are nice for mame cabs with the easy switch between 4 way and 8 way
most arcades use happ competion joysticks with oval top
i have oval top, happ perfect 360 joysticks
they use a light sensor instead of cherry switches and are ajustable for metal or wood layouts

The big factor here is going to be the bolt pattern.
I think the original sticks in those were Wico sticks.
If so, the Seimitsu, Sanwa and J-sticks won't fit without redrilling.
Most of the Happ sticks, and I think all of the Wico sticks, will match the bolt pattern.
You can get replacement balltops from Groovy Game Gear for both the Happ and Wico sticks.
There are even some NOS Wico replacement balltops available out there.
Buttons aren't as critical.
You may have to do a bit of grinding on the buttons or holes, depending on the exact fit.
Leafswitch buttons will likely need the tabs ground off to fit through the holes.
My personal favorite buttons are the flat-top Seimitsu buttons.
They are a mini-leafswitch inside, rather than the flip-flop microswitch of the Cherry switches Happ uses.
This makes them feel a little more responsive to me.

Well the inside of the panel shows happ competion sticks and I don't do so hot as far as drilling, I'm gonna probably replace them with those. Or I'll get some X-arcade sticks since their the same size and that warranty helps. I'm gonna make something that uses a ball top one of these days...I can always use another fine piece of furniture that I can play with mindlessly for hours.
