Title: Midway cabinet glass retainer - Mortal Kombat II / NFL Blitz style cabinet
Post by: cmoses on December 23, 2008, 09:01:07 pm
I just picked up a cabinet for a second project.  It is a Midway Mortal Kombat II cabinet that had been converted to a NFL Blitz 99.  The only thing missing is the glass retaining bracket that goes at the bottom of the monitor glass to hold it in place.

I found a part number in a manual thanks to brock.sampson, but am not sure how to go about obtaining the part.  If anyone has a spare or knows a place to get them please let me know.  I would guess that this is a easy part to find with the number of this style cabinets out there.

Listed as Glass Retainer 01-13943 on page 2 of this manual

Thanks

Do you mean the metal piece that goes over the bottom of the glass where it meets the CP?  Cause I have one from a MK1 that might fit.

i don'y have any for sale but have made 2 for Mk games. I went to Lowes and in the same aisle as screens they have an L shaped bracket, that I cut to 25" and drilled 3 holes were it screws into the wood on the cabinet, and painted black. It actually looks better than stock since it is brand new and paint is new, without all the arcade dings and dents.

Jack - Yes I mean the piece that goes over the bottom of the glass where it meets the CP.  The cabinets look very similar on the KLOV web page.  Can you post a picture of what you have?  Are you willing to sell it?

ctozzi - the alternative is to make, fabricate, or use something similar, so I will look into your idea at Lowes or Home Depot.

My other issue is since I do not have one or really know one it looks like I am hoping to find a good picture so if someone can post a picture of theirs it would be great.  Also I looked at my cabinet and I do not see any holes that it would attach to, so explaining how it mounts would be helpful also.

Thanks in advance for any pictures or knowledge of mounting.

I have a Killer Instinct 2 cabinet that I need this retainer bracket for.  I can't seem to find one anywhere.  I have looked at Lowes for the L-Bracket that you described, but I can't seem to find it.  Do you know what it is normally used for?

I found the bracket at Lowes as well.  It was a 1" L bracket.  I do not recall what aisle it was on, but they had all sorts of shapes and sizes in a big with a lot of slots.  They all had painted ends, signifying the type of metal it was. If you asked an associate there I am sure they can direct you.

How did you get the proper angle or was it already bent correctly?

The one I got is a 90 degree right angle.  I did not have one for reference so was not sure what the original angle was.  The right angle one worked fine.

Maybe it's an optical illusion, but I'm pretty sure mine is going to be more than 90 degrees.  I would estimate about 120.  Thanks for the information.

I've checked mine and it's about 120 degrees.  Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get this retainer bracket?

RISE FROM THE DEAD!

I'm going with the L-bracket option, but I would buy a replacement if I could find one.
