Title: Touchscreen Kits - Any good?
Post by: More Cowbell on December 23, 2008, 03:27:17 pm: I see a lot of these kits on eBay that turn your LCD into a touchscreen. Do they work? Do they look terrible? Most of them are not much cheaper than an actual touchscreen monitor, but I have a few monitors lying around so I'm thinking this could work for me. Anyone have experience with these things?

The "touchscreen" part is just an add-on.

Stick with brands like 3M Microtouch or similar and you should be fine.
Just be sure to measure properly and note the difference between curved, flat, etc.

Post by: mccoy178 on December 25, 2008, 02:16:21 am: Well, they are about a 1/16" of an inch thick, so it depends on whether you can the monitor back in its original case with that on the front. Only on the edges could you tell it's not a regular monitor.

You do not want to crush or put stress on the outer edge of the touchscreen by "clamping" the faceplate down to much on it.
