Title: 5v on GP-WIZ49
Post by: zcabrage on December 21, 2008, 11:33:50 am
Hey everybody, my setup up has 2 GP-WIZ49 boards controlling 2 49 way sticks and buttons. I was looking to hook up the counters in my coin door and was wondering if I could connect the 5v wires to the counters to the 5v terminal on the GP-WIZ49. The terminal already has a wire that is powering the joystick so I was thinking of just putting another wire in the 5v terminal and running it to the counter. Does anyone know if having the GP-WIZ powering a joystick and a coin counter is a problem? Thanks for your help.

I don't advise it. Run a line from your computer PS.

Thanks for the reply Ummon, is there a reason that you don't recommend using the GP-WIZ? I am just trying to understand how these things work. Thanks again.

The counter could pull more power than the GPWiz is meant to handle and burn it out.
