I've been checking craigslist periodically all morning and this shows up this afternoon.
Someone was picking it up right when I called. It was in awesome cosmetic condition too. I give up!
Here's the add.
"This is a full size arcade that I purchased that I could not get to work. It come on and the sounds come on but it has an error on the screen. I do not want to be bothered with fixin it as I purchased it from a dishonest person who claimed it worked. I need it gone by Friday. I willing to accept any reasonable offers"

And just what would you have done with it???

Gotta be quick on those peaches!
We get Super Auctions here about 3 times a year, it is a coin-op auction. I picked up a sweet non-working NFL Blitz 99 for $125. This thing was so clean on the inside that it looked like it was in shrink wrap for 8 or 9 years. Even the sideart is in decent shape, although I'll probablt peel it eventually and paint to match cp and marquee.

I know the ad was for $50, but I wonder how much it went for?
And just what would you have done with it???
What would any of us done with it? Mame it of course!
-

Bite your tongue!

Yeah, boy! I woulda trashed that POS arcade monitor and replaced it with an LCD! Next, paint it black. Aren't all arcade cabs black? With neon T-molding. Then cut off that control panel and replace it with a bigger one with every control in existence on there!
Think my 486 will play Blitz full speed? I hope so, that's the computer that's going in there!

There's no way I would have Mame'd it! I would have got it going and put it right in my office at work.
Robotron is an awesome game. Especially on a dedicated cab. I even have a set of Wico joysticks I could have swapped in there instead of those bats.
Oh well.

Yep - I missed it too. Didn't catch it until around the time you posted this.
-
Yeah I called about an hour after it was posted. The woman seemed very much like someone who knew nothing about it and just wanted it gone. It sold for the $50.
Maybe we'll see it in Brian's arcade museum when he opens it. (If he was the one who got it)
-
I should have called - I emailed. I saw it about one minute after it was posted.
It's just as well. Wife would have thrown a fit if I tried to get it.

It's especially a shame when we miss a cab that is local. The only local cab I ever got was a Pole Position, and it was free. (Dead of course, but complete) That was such a nice feeling to pick up the cab on my lunch break. Everything else I have gotten is at least a 90 minute drive...

Was that the Pole Position from up north around Gansvort area last year?
If so did you get it working?
-
Wow. You guys sure have a lot of competition for cabs in those parts. I only know of two or three people in downstate Illinois that are in the hobby...

No - it was from Mechanicville. I ended up trading it and a Turbo for a Hard Drivin cockpit. I did get the Turbo working first, however.

Argggg I'd have flown from Scotland and added a zero on the end of the asking price :)
