it kinda seems to me that an arcadeVGA and an LCD monitors are incompatible. I mean, LCD monitors have a fixed resolution, and when the video card can't produce that kind of resolution, the LCD will compensate for it in some way or another, such as stretching the video to fit the screen, or perhaps only using a portion of the screen like you're seeing.
If you can, swap out either the video card or the monitor and see if things pop up full screen again. the whole idea behind an AVGA card is that it produces video compatible with TV sets and arcade monitors, not VGA based computer monitors.

ok, will put avga in another cab, whats best pcie pc card to get for use with it?
will soft15k be any use to me, or should i swap the lcd for a tv?

if you're looking for accuracy, an LCD is probably the worst thing you can put into a video gaming rig.
you want a CRT that is capable of lots of different resolutions, or a TV/arcade monitor.
arcadeVGA and soft15k are used to take a computer's high resolution/frequency and dumb it down to put the screen onto a TV or other low resolution/interlaced monitor, so no, soft15k won't help you with an LCD.
With an LCD, you'd pretty much want any video card that can support the fixed resolution that an LCD uses, and you're likely going to get lots of black bars from lower resolution games, since the LCD won't know how to display them full screen at weird resolutions.

If you want to use the LCD, stop trying to put arcade cards on it. Have you ever tried using Windows on a CRT TV? The Hz are all off and its a blurry nightmare. Thats what aVGA is for.
As for cards, it depends of what games you want to play. Youre gonna want something big-ish if youre playing some fast 3d fighters, Id guess at least a nVidia 6xxx. If youre playing Galaga you can get by with the cheapest thing that fits your mobo.
And not to argue with NOP, but I think LCDs are nice. Theyre very friendly on PCs. Im using a 20" Samsung in a vertical cab. No problems. The native resolution is up there, 1600x1200 or something, but it displays all games nicely. Havent had a problem with it yet, other than its a TN.
And since its vertical-only, Im playing the oldies on a 9-bulged-capacitor nVidia 4200ti, if that gives you some reference.

i used the arcadevga resolution tool, and put it down to some weird res, and it was like it was zoomed in, ive got a few arcades (still getting finnished), 1 with a polo 2, the other a tv with scart, both use avgas.
the lcd one is a friends one im doing for him, and its a mini mame cab, so lcd was to reduce bulk. its a 15" dell lcd
