I've got some new spinner knobs coming, and I'm trying to decide which colors to stock.
The anodize batches carry minimum run charges, so I have to be selective. Obviously, Red, Blue and Black, but what other colors do people think of when they think "Spinner knob"?
Thanks in advance for any input on this....

Disc's of Tron style knob, (machined plastic rod?), with Tron Stick matching transparent UV reactive color... either greenish-blue, or maybe reddish-orange
(Ish = maybe 3/4th dominant pigmentation level)
Ive considered trying to make them myself... but pre-made and reasonable may
be a lot easier.
Im sure Tron/Discs of Tron owners would snap them up too. Havnt measured the
shaft diameters.. so not sure if they are compatible tho...
Maybe a slight variation on the shape, to give the middle zone double the width
for better grip on non Dot games.
Maybe 2mm diameter increase.
Standard tron vertical grip lines on the edge. v-engraved circles on the top.
Slight texture on the very bottom for light diffusion and non-slip effect.

Are you doing some aluminum instead of stainless?
Personally I like the silver/clear.

Yep, some original designs too (well, not too original. I tried to keep a "classic" look to them)
Personally I like the silver/clear.
Heh, I'm sure glad I asked. Didn't get a lot of participants on this one....maybe because after Red, Blue and Black there wasn't much of a preference? But I wouldn't have guessed that "Vanilla" (clear) was going to be as popular. The people have spoken! :)
If anyone wants to add their 2 cents, now is the time...they are leaving the machine shop today for the surface finisher.
Thanks to all who have participated.

Randy,
Now I'm confused. What knobs are you talking about coloring? The color choices threw me off a bit, because for just a stock supply, my vote would be something along these lines (in this order and for anodized alum):
1. Black
2. Silver (clear?)
3. Red
4. Blue
5. Gold/Bronze
6. Yellow
7. Orange
8. Green
I think purple would be very specific to a setup/particular game IMHO compared to others.
I look at the breakdown like this:
- Black/Silver: Useful on everything, and will work with almost any color scheme.
- Red/Blue: Most prevalent in Cab color schemes, will work with many other colors. (i.e. blue with a purple cab, etc.)
- Gold/Bronze: Again, metallic and will match anything with gold/bronze accents.
- Yellow/Orange/Green: Should match the majority of cab color schemes to some extent, including classic cab retrofits.

They haven't been shown yet. I have two new styles coming in aluminum that I think will compete very well with the others that are currently on the market.
Thanks for the input on the colors. It helps to reaffirm what I was thinking as well (aside from the clear ;) ) but the points are well taken.

No pink?!?!?
Never mind that I'd be the only customer on that one... ;D

Depends on how green the "green" is, and how purple the "purple". Candy apple green, or forest green, or olive green, or florescent green? Same idea with purple.
If I liked the green, I'd get the green. But not olive or fluorescent green, I'd go black in that case. I'd think clear is the safest alternate, though; it would be my next choice of buying..
I don't like gold or orange at all, but some drive around cars with those colors, so someone likes 'em. :P ;D

I don't know how I missed this thread. PURPLE. Mine is purple...well, sort of in between purple and magenta, but that's how SS did 'em. A darker purple - or violet, yeah! - would be better. Forest green would be cool, too. Gold sounds nice, even. Any of these would work with a black panel top...unless you're using blue and red buttons - blech! Then again, for those with LED set-ups, any of these should work, too.
