Title: light behind marquee
Post by: meta87 on June 18, 2003, 11:17:07 pm
I bought a 22 inch flourescent (sp?) light to go behind my marquee. But when I brought it home and tested it, I noticed that to turn it on, I must hold the on button in for 3 seconds or so. This will be almost impossible when its behind my marquee.

Did I by the wrong kind of light  ???
If not how do I turn it on and off? I tried just plugging it in and out of the outlet but it doesn't turn back on.

Thanks!

I've seen kitchen "under-cabinet" fluorescent lights like this that require you to hold the switch down to engage the light starter.  Like you said, these are not the type of light you want for behind a marquee.  Most of these types of lights use a pushbutton or rocker-style switch, look for one that uses a slide switch and you won't have any problems.

I had one like you are talking about.  I wonder if you could replace the switch with a fluorescent starter?  Maybe then it would work.  I just went out and bought a 6.50 replacement at Lowes instead.
