That's pretty f**King sweet.
-
What did you do with the original control panel?
-
I'm keeping it.
-
This cab is pretty much exactly what I'm planning to do, although I'm sure mine won't look nearly anywhere as good. But I do have a question, if you don't mind.
Where did you purchase your side art?
Cheers
-
He bought a dedicated mortal kombat. You can not buy dedicated sideart ,not yet at least.

well you can get MKII and MK3 repro just not MK1
-
Would it be possible to get a high-res picture of the side art and get mamemarques to print it?
-
Where did you get the z bracket from?
-
The Z bracket i got off another MK panel i had laying around. The MK1 sideart is dedicated so it's the original and it is almost perfect in color and condition. I would love to help anyone out on the high res pictures, as i was forced to buy a dedicated cabinet after 2 yrs of trying to do the same thing. If someone can get it done more power to you !

:( that doesn't help!
-
very rarely they pop up on ebay but sellers have no idea what the heck they are, ask in the for sale section and someone who has a dead control panel laying around will probably have one on the top of the control panel, or you can try to make your own, however it's tough i tried.
-
i think the last spare one I had I sent on the panel to ctozzi, but if not the guy who bought my MK4 CPO got it
-
ya that one is on my MK3

If you could take some pictures, that would be fantastic!

picture of the z bracket ?
-
Awesome job. Yes, with careful mapping and use of the Ultimarcs 'shift' it is possible to build a panel w/ no admin buttons. I have a similar cabinet scratch build from MK measurements and I never succeeded in getting the CP quite right. Do you mind sending your CP blueprints in a PM (or posting)?
-
I did not make blueprints, i simply dismantled the original mk1 control panel and traced each part on 3/4 mdf board and hand cut/table saw cut each piece. Then sanded and routered the t-moulding access.

picture of the z bracket ?
Whoops, I probably should've elaborated. I was talking about the sideart. :-[
-
I'd like to see a pic of this "Z" bracket .... I've seen other people looking for them before and figured that it can't be that complicated of a piece.
-
It's at the top of the panel
-
Game play on the panel

If you could, would you be able to explain the access door on the kickplate and take some detailed pictures?
Thanks!
-
I'll make ya a video and link it here tonight.

Perfect! I was looking at how the access door was connected and you explained it really well!
Thank you so much! :notworthy:
-
Glad it helped
-
Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but, on the back of the cabinet, is there a full back panel?
Is there anything removable?
Thanks
-
The back has a stamdard arcade panel with lock at the top to secure it from being opened, I removed it to gain easy access to all the guts.
-
I finally found and fought reptile after all these years.

Hey, you was cheatin'! :afro:
-
Ya after playing MK1 for an hour I had to cheat to stay interested
-
Did you buy that CP overlay from Mamemarquees? I need a new one. Does the black to red gradient background actually have the dots like the original panel, or has it been recreated with a smooth gradient?
Thanks,
Wade
-
yes mamemarquees, not sure what you mean about the gradient, the whole thing is smooth ?
-
Very cool!
Question: Are those 4-way or 8-Way joysticks?
-
"Rise from your grave!"
Next time check the post date.

They look like Happ Competition or Ultimate sticks, which are 8-way.
