Post by: brpadington on November 26, 2008, 11:48:37 am
I have a mame cab running ubuntu and sdlmame. Is there any way i can set up a key combination to exit a game back to the frontend? i looked in the tab menu and did not see and entry for escape. any ideas? :dunno

i have 2 buttons linked to exit, that way you must press both to exit.

You want to look for "UI Cancel" in the Input (general), User Interface menu; the default key is esc but the input is not called that. ;)

To map mame to require two buttons without rewiring (IOW, mame software vs the via hardware), after you press enter ("UI Select" default key), press both buttons you want.  Slightly more info on remapping at mameDev FAQ (http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Controls#How_do_I_configure_the_keys.3F).

Not that there's anything wrong with hardwiring it.  I'm too lazy to, though, and just remap.  And use ctrlr file (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Ctrlr_file) to store the remaps.
