Ok, so I have an UMK3 pcb that I am trying to revert back to MK3. I have all the original roms and the original security chip. When I install them in the PCB, nothing happens. If I put the UMK3 security chip back in, the pcb runs through the boot up test and all the roms pass, but when the game starts, it just resets and repeats the process. The screen says "Mortal Kombat 3" in the corner, so I know the original roms work, it's just down to the security chip issue. I was told that I need to reset the bios and it should work. Anyone know the best way to go about this? Thanks in advance.

Try pulling the battery?

I did that, but when it's not installed, the PCB doesn't power on at all.

How long did you let it set, unplugged and without battery? Ive cleared computer bios this way but it took about a day of being powerless to work.

I tried half an hour. I'll wait til tomorrow and plug it back in and see what happens. Thanks.

Ok, I got the bios to clear with no problem, but my original problem remains. I most likely got a bad MK3 security chip because the PCB does nothing whether I have the MK3 chip installed or not. At least with the UMK3 chip installed, the PCB runs through the rom test menu. I'll have to see if I can get another or just find an original MK3 PCB intact.
