Title: Mame32 too fast
Post by: subedriver on November 23, 2008, 09:30:15 pm
I'm running mame32 v.93 on tinyxp with ati 9250 246mb, on a celeron 2.0ghz.  Really just getting my setup going and have the mortal kombat games running decenting which is my main goal.  However lots of others including street fighters and neo geo games are running very fast.  I do not use command line mame.  I currently have it hooked up with a jpac with soft 15khz and using the original wgk7000 monitor that was in my cab.  Any suggestions on how I can slow it down without affecting games that are running fine like the mortal kombat games?  My sound is a little off but it's bearable.  I'm using stock dell sound for now.  I didn't have alot of these problems when I was using the stock vga output on my old pc monitor.  I'm switching to a 20" inch lcd very soon.  Any suggestions are welcomed!

turns out turning off the sync to monitor refresh took care of the sped up problem.  Still have red scanlines in the picture on street fighter games.  don't have it in the mortal kombat ones.  should i enable the use scanlines?  and if so what setting?

I have absolutely no idea why sync to refresh exists because it makes the game run at the refresh rate, which of course is balls-out fast.

Now, what do you mean 'red scanlines'?  Your monitor runs at 15khz and naturally displays blank (or 'scan') lines.  Make sure effects are off, for one.

I'll check effects tomorrow.  What I mean by scanlines is I have these redish rectangles that go across my screen.  I don't have them in some games and some games I do.  I don't know how else to describe it.

Hmmm. That sounds like maybe the monitor's convergence with red is off. Try to find out some more, take some good pictures, video even if possible, and post it in monitor/video.
