Title: Painting a trackball mounting plate
Post by: stephenp1983 on November 22, 2008, 06:09:08 pm
I have one of the happs trackball mounting plates that is currently black, not the zinc one.  Is there a good method to painting these to match my cab. Something that would stick and not just flake off?

an oiled based paint won't come off.   Like rustoleum gloss.  That stuff lasts forever.

Would I just need to sand the exsisting black off and then apply the oil based paint of my choice?

An exposed plate painted is still going to look unsightly, IMO.  Considering you want to paint it, I can only assume you are concerned about aesthetics.  Route out the wood, recess the plate and put CPO over it.  It's not that hard and it'll look a zillion times better.   ;)
