If I have a working marvel vs capcom 2 complete and I want to keep it to play games like snk and other newer arcade games is it possible to setup a mame computer and switch between the two? I know anything is possible, but is it realistic? If so how would you do it?

www.ultimarc.com You'll probalbly want a J-PAC and an arcade VGA, but I'm not really up on this.

see tiger-heli's post... did you mean switch between them instantly or be able to swap manually from pcb to MAME and back again.
If you meant instantly (without going into the back of the cabinet each time) you'd need to do some research on multi-jamma kits/projects.

Well I just found a really great marvel vs capcom 2 game in mint condition really cheap. I want to still build a cabinet but don't have room for both so I wanted to find out if i could put mame in my capcom 2 cabinet and switch on the fly. I wasn't even sure if it was possible. I will do some research, but I thought if anyone knew I if i could do it before I got too excited.

If you want to open it to switch, just wire all of your stuff up to a standard harness, then you can swap the edge connector between the real game and the JPAC.
Otherwise, you're kind of out of luck, unless you want to drop $200 on a nice electronic JAMMA switcher, or make one out of a printer-selector box.

so, if i got marvel vs capcom for 250 mint, bought the switcher put my mame stuff in that cabinet. I would be spending about 500 dollars vs 1700 for new mame cab?

i bet even cheaper if you have some electronics knowhow

Not hardly, I haven't checked the prices, but cabinet is 250 and switcher is 200, plus about $80 for the arcade VGA, plus about $80 for the J-PAC, plus the computer itself, plus shipping, plus wiring and connectors, plus time (I think you're over $500).

Is marvel vs. Capcom 2 emulated in mame?
if so... why ever switch?

PS pardon my ignorance as to not knowing ALL the 4000 games in mame

>Is marvel vs. Capcom 2 emulated in mame?
I only see Marvel vs. Capcom 1, give it six months, though! (And no, I don't have inside information :-)
>PS pardon my ignorance as to not knowing ALL the 4000 games in mame
That's what front ends are for!!!

Eh, any switching solution you devise would have to either provide a load on the arcade power supply, or turn it off when you are running mame. Those switchers will go up in smoke real quick if you run them with no load.
I say just pack up yr Jamma board all nice and protected inside, and run it in Mame instead, you may want to have yr frontend default to that game upon bootup.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is not emulated in MAME, and is unlikely to be emulated any time soon, as the hardware (Sega Naomi) is a heavy-duty polygon pushing (3D) machine.
To do what you want to do, you will need a JPAC and ArcadeVGA to connect your PC to the JAMMA cabinet. Then you will need a MultiJAMMA, available from:

Have fun!
