Title: Multimeter Diode test work as continuity test?
Post by: Epyx on November 19, 2008, 02:40:56 pm
I recently purchased:

Now before anyone jumps on me for not reading up on electronics before creating my own circuit boards...rest easy...I have one purpose only and its a simple one to have the multimeter assist me with a continuity test for testing wires on portable CP wiring.  I have no ambitions beyond CP wiring...no high voltage stuff here! :)

Now the unit I purchased doesn't seem to have a dedicated continuity test but it does have a diode test.  When I use the diode test to test wires etc I get readings when its the same wire and 0 when it isn't.

Would this in a sense work just like a continuity test?

Generally you want to use the ohms setting for that unless your diode test beeps when you use it.
