Title: Wood laminate cabinet, removing the wood laminate?
Post by: cmoses on November 17, 2008, 09:30:27 am
Does anyone have experience with a cabinet that has the fake wood laminate on it?  Are they usually pressboard underneath?  Is it easy to remove or are there any other options?

It is very likely particle board but may also be mdf.  Either way, taking off the laminate will likely destroy the board.  Not the best idea, but you could put another layer of laminate over the top and then re-edge it with oversized t-molding.  It will look great when done, just a matter of long the bond will last.

i have one of these cabs, what i did was sanded it down to get the finnish off
then i primed it and painted it black

looks nice, might put a protective laquer on it :)
