I have an x-arcade keyboard encoder, shown here:
http://www.xgaming.com/byoarcade.shtml
One of the main buttons for player 1 is the ALT key. I'm running into some problems with the SNES9X emulator. I do like SNES9x, and it does allow you to map buttons to whatever you please EXCEPT the ALT key. So I am trying to find some way to get SNES9x to allow ALT as a valid key mapping. I am using Mala as my front end. I thought that Hotkeys in Mala was supposed to be used exactly for this sort of thing. Within SNES9x, I've mapped the SNES X button to the 0 key on the keyboard. Then this is the Hotkey I set up in Mala:
Type: Post
Source: Alt
Destination: 0
I thought that this was supposed to basically change any ALT press into a 0 press. Is that not how it works?
Or does anyone have any other ideas as to how to remedy this situation? Is there like another SNES emulator that will allow an ALT keyress to be mapped to a key?

I use ZSNESW_0803_[mamekeys]
this works fine
