Title: Really confused about ticking sound in my Wells K7400
Post by: jconstanza on November 14, 2008, 02:01:39 pm
Ok, if the chassis is on the tube their is a constant ticking. I have unsoldered the jumper from R100 and the resistor from R728. Hooked one of my wires from my 60w light bulb to the leg of L100 and the other wire to ground. The light bulb turns on, but this is where I get confused, their are about 3-5 rapid ticks before the light bulb turns on. Does that mean the power supply is my problem or not?

K7400 are really finicky when it comes to B+ voltage.  Nudge it down *just* a hair.  And I do mean a tiny, itty bitty bit.  If it doesn't come up then, try again just a little more.

Is their an exact voltage I should be looking for or will the monitor turn on as soon as move the pot a little? Also what voltage do I want when I have it hooked up to the light bulb? What's too high? What's too low?

The monitor should hopefully fire up by nudging the pot.

The B+ should be +130VDC.

Does that go just for the K7400/K7500 or does it go for all the Wells models?
