This is driving me crazy. I have my cabinet set up, it's working, and all is well except for 2 things. One is the lights on my coin door, which I haven't had time to hook up yet. The second is far more infuriating. I've wanted to put a video card in my PC that allows component out, as my TV has several component inputs. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to find one on Ebay that was cheap, due to the relatively low specs you need from a video card to run MAME. And then I found out what a hell hole video card shopping is.
I can't ever tell if a specific card is capable of component out via a dongle. When I run across one that is, it's outrageously expensive. It would help immensely if someone could point me in the direction of a few options that would run Mame (and Hyperspin-FE) with out trouble, but that support component out, either via a dongle or just straight off the card. This s-video stuff just isn't going to cut it for much longer.

I can't answer directly as to what cards might support component out, but another option would be to use a VGA-to-component or DVI-to-component adapter. You could pretty much use any video card in that case, and the adapters are fairly inexpensive.

do you need an agp card? or an pci express? if you look at newegg.com you can see pics of most of the products, so they will show you if they come with a component output dongle.

ATI 4850 is what I got.
It comes with/ supports both S-Video and Component right out of the box.
Great card and the price is right IMO.

You can easily run a vga cable to component using one of these
