Title: J-Stick and Metal CP?
Post by: Necro on November 11, 2008, 03:51:33 pm
I finally know what my CPs will be made of (metal) and I'm trying now to select joysticks.  I'm leaning towards the J-sticks for switchability and a good overall 8-way, but I can't find much information on mounting it to a metal CP.  The only info is that it should be mounted shallow in wood, but not much mention of metal.

Anyone know anything more about this?  Can it be straight mounted to a metal CP?

Japanese sticks usually mount into metal.  The J-Stick that Ultimarc sells is a Sanwa JLW series that originally mounted underneath metal in Japanese candy cabs.  ultimarc sells a longer joystick shaft to allow mounting in 3/4" or 5/8" wood.

So yes, it can be straight mounted as long as you use the original short shaft.

Or, you could go the extra step if you plan on using Japanese controls and get a Sanwa JLF or Seimitsu LS series.  They are more expensive, but many players consider them superior for 8 way operation.

Ok, that's what I wasn't sure of.  They also have the modified restrictor plates, correct?

My only concern with these is the ball...in the images on LizardLick they look much larger then the standard american balltop joys...but it could just be the pic.
