Title: custom15khz.txt - Post your file?
Post by: Chase on November 10, 2008, 11:56:15 pm
Hey Everyone,
I have Soft-15 installed and looking at tweaking and making my cabinet and machine look it's best!

But, I know I have to do some things, and was wondering if anyone had their "custom15khz.txt" file they could share?

my specs:

D9400 WG 27 Inch Monitor
ATI Radeon X600SE 128mb (Running 6.5)
Installed Soft-15KHz

Thanks for the help everyone,
Chase

Try these two in custom25khz.txt (should work great with your multisync and newer shooters like DonPachi):
Modeline "432x324@60" 13.4 432 440 496 536 324 326 330 351 -hsync -vsync
Modeline "416x312@60" 13 416 424 480 520 312 314 318 338 -hsync -vsync

custom31khz.txt (add a full progressive 800x600):
modeline '800x600@60p' 40.0 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 -hsync -vsync

usermodes.txt (interlaced 1024x768 and a 513 line modeline for Toobin and other vertical EGA games!):
modeline '1024x768@59,959i' 29,49 1024 1040 1136 1200 768 776 782 820 interlace -hsync -vsync
modeline "704x513@60p;31,5kHz" 29,484 704 752 840 936 513 517 523 525 -hsync -vsync

For some reason my GeForce 7200 doesn't like 320x256 mode... or any x256 modes... it drops out of 15khz (I can see a screen doubling) and the vhold goes apeshit.  Are there any custom modes anyone can recommend close to this that may work on an arcade monitor and this GeForce 7200.  Going to 320x240 cuts off the top score in Shuffleshot,  and World Class Bowling.

Thanks!

Frizz, WCB is 384x256. I think 320x256 is medium res.

That is what I meant.  It's the 256 vertical resolution that isn't working properly it seems... which isn't medium resolution. 416 x 384 is medium resolution... standard res goes up to 288 vertical lines.

EDIT - CORRECTION: This is only happening at 352x256 and 352x264.  It seems to basically jump to 31khz,  yet Soft15KHz is supposed to support it?!

That sounds like an issue with your card/driver if it's jumping to 31khz.  I had similar problems with 320x240 being line doubled 31khz.  I ended up using an older catalyst driver version and that solved it.

I messed with it a little more and strangely,  instead of just DOUBLING the image (as it would if it were 31khz),  it's QUADRUPLING the image?!  Perhaps I'll try to re-install drivers...which is a huge pain in the ass being I am on XP x64.

How do I find older Windows XP x64 drivers I wonder.

most like you just need to tweak the modeline a bit.
those quad-screens are a pretty common problem with nvidia cards, though I don't know why it happens.

....any suggestions for the "newb"?  Perhaps you can upload a couple modelines to try?  BTW: When i go to add them,  does it ADD whatever I put in the txt file or do I lose all resolutions BUT what's in the .txt file?

It depends. If it's custom**khz.txt and the resolution is the same as that in the stock set but the modeline is different, it puts the new one in place of the stock one. If it's completely different, I think it just adds it to the stock list. This can also be done using the usermodes.txt .
