Post by: chuggy on June 17, 2003, 01:18:24 am
OK,

I just got my keywiz, and computer. I was under the impression that all i had to do was screw down some wires and wamo! It was gonna work. I daisy chained all the grounds, and connected connections properly, but i cannot get my controls to work. Can anyone help me? HOpefully its really easy, and im just cracked out. LOL. thanks in advance!

Hey Chuggy!

Email me if you have a problem (I'm sure it's something simple.)

That's included in the price  ;D

And a quick generic recommendation...

Wire one button first... get it going and tested...

Then another one... test...

Then a group... test...

IE, don't wire your entire cabinet and then wonder what it could be...  Test in pieces... MUCH easier to diagnose one button... Or one of the last 5 then all 40+ connections and 100+ wires

Oh... you guys do it the smart way...  That's okay I guess.  I wired all my grounds this weekend, then last night wired all the buttons up (except the clones: pinball flippers and 7th buttons for neo geo), plugged it into the computer, powered it up, and BOOM!  It worked perfectly... after I deleted all the .cfg files for my games.  (I had remapped buttons for keyboard play.)

Oh and by the way, I know this has been brought up before, but I HATE the default keys for Street Fighter II etc.  It is such a waste of time to remap every one of those MF'ers.  Anybody got a quick solution to the problem?

Ctrlr ini files.  Text based files, you'll only need one for each parent and the clones will be remapped, too.

Info on ctrlr ini at http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mamecontrolini.htm and docs/ctrlr.txt.  Remeber to delete the cfg/cfg files.

BTW, there is a hack out there that you could add to the source so you could get one file that would effect all 6 button games.  LilWolf, is that you?
