Title: Coin Mech Suggestion
Post by: tektreve on March 05, 2002, 09:44:43 am
I had asked some questions a few months ago about coin mechs/doors, and I got some great advice. However, despite quite a bit of time searching the old board and it's archives, I can't seem to find that old message thread.

42-6901-00 --- Imonex $.25, .882 & .900" Token Mech

Works great (I bought 2).  It takes both quarters and tokens smaller than a quarter (as it comes).  It rejects pennies, nickels and dimes.  I loosened the screw holding the triangle restrictor piece and moved it to make the opening wider (you will see it when you get it).  After that it was able to accept the Chuck E. Cheese token I tried feeding it.  A Chuck E. Cheese token is a bit bigger than a quarter.  The tokens I am using are .882 and .900.

Get whatever tokens you like the design of.  That should be how you decide and not just by size.

I always wanted to buy a big bag o' cheap tokens and use them...are they pretty generic, like either this size or that size....not really rip someone off but just to see if they would be interchangeable..lol.... ;D

I took the coin mechs that came with my captain america cabinet and hacked them to take all coins (I wanted my machine to be a giant piggy bank).

works great (well... only hacked one of 4 so far).

The trick for me and hacking them was plastic straws.  You just have to make sure that the coins always go throught the whole system.  Small straws coverted the return slots.  And big straws cut in half to make a new track (and removed one piece that used to force the specific coin size stuff).

but I usually just push the button on the top of it :)

There are 5 pound bags of mixed tokens on Ebay all the time.
