Hi all,
I've been trying to create a VGA - SCART cable to connect my MAME PC directly to the TV, but have given up in frustration - I simply can't get it to work (I think I must be really bad at soldering or something!)
So - I'm planning on buying a 19" arcade monitor and an ArcadeVGA graphics card. I'll be running Lincade which runs at 15KHz.
My question is, can anyone recommend a 19" arcade monitor that would be simple to use with this set up without me having to build any custom cables? I was thinking of buying a 19" Wells Gardner Series K7700. Would this or something similar connect to the ArcadeVGA with a standard cable?
Thanks for any advice!

any 15k monitor will do
if the monitor has a vga input then a vga cable itself will work
if it has standrard arcade pins with RGBHV then a ultimarc vga breakout cable will work instead of the regular vga cable for a plug and play solution.
some arcade monitors require a video amp but most wells if not all do not require one.

Thanks for your reply – that’s helpful. I don’t think the Wells Gardner I’m looking at has a VGA input but it is a 15KHz monitor. I see the VGA breakout cable on the Ultimarc website. Are you saying this cable will connect directly to an arcade monitor – that’s exactly what I’m after.
Another query I have about the ArcadeVGA is this. Does it let you display genuine arcade resolutions like I would have seen had I managed to get my VGA – SCART working?

right the cord would go to your vga card and the other end should plug right into your monitors pins for a plug and play.
the arcadevga display's in true native display for all 15K wich I believe is even better then you would ever get out of vga to scart.

15khz is 15khz. The arcadeVGA is designed to output a 15khz signal. Soft15khz and the Advancemame drivers enable many stock cards to do so as well. colly is confusing particular hardware with certain behavior, and could use some time in the video section of the wiki.
Edit: and northerngames doesn't understand that scart is straight 15khz also, no encoding or scaling.

you going to need the VGA Breakout cable. If you going to order the AVGA, then get the breakout cable at the same time to save on shipping. You can also easily make one yourself. Here is a link showing you to how make it. It's 4th post down

I have the WG 7xxx with AVGA and I made my own breakout cable. It works with just the 1v and it would not hurt if you get a video amp.

I suppose this means that since I'll be running Lincade which outputs at 15KHz that in theory I don't need the ArcadeVGA card or breakout cable as I have a stripped down VGA cable already which I was trying to use to connect to SCART.
As far as I can tell the advantage of the ArcadeVGA card is that it will output everything at 15KHz whereas Lincade will only output at 15KHz once it the software has started up.

Right. And as long as your card and drivers are supported in Lincade.
