I am hoping that someone with a little more emulation knowledge will be able to answer this question. Besides installing a larger harddrive and possibly more memory, (i.e. both are very inexpensive) at the moment, I don't see why either model would not be able to perform emulation at a successful rate. Depending on what emulation one may want to work with, may not even have to upgrade drive and or memory....
Thanks, Shane

Hey
I have been doing some reading and for example N64 needs min 600mhz chip with 128mb ram.. however most emus like that need a good video card.,. what would these have in them for video>?
thx
Jim

looks like ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 AGP with 16MB of DDR SDRAM may be the video card? not sure how good that is...anyone?
-
The T42 has these options for video - 32MB RADEON 7500 or 9000, 64MB RADEON 9600, or 128MB FIREGL T2 ATI Mobility video chipset
The T30 has the 16MB 7500
If you're more apt to use emulators that rely on HLE (Like Project64), the T42 will do fine. The 30 should also do ok, but with only 16MB of VRAM......not sure how ok.
Both would do fine with Playstation emulation, and any older systems, as well as MAME (We all know MAME doesn't rely much on your video card, anything more than either of these systems has won't help you)

Hmm
Yea ps2 is not important.. but n64 is....
thx
Jim

Not PS2 lol the original Playstation.
My desktop whups the pants off these laptops (Even my laptop does) and only certain games run well.
Given I remember running a P4 1.4Ghz with 512MB of PC800 RDRAM and a Radeon 8500, and playing N64 games just fine before PJ64 and 1964 were even as polished as they are now, that T30 should do ok.

Um, as in, there's a title format for these kinds of threads.

His thread was started a few months ago. Long before Peale reiterated the format. Some had been following it but others didn't know it was in the rules.

Thanks Hoopz. Yeah, the thread was started awhile ago.... I did not see the new post concerning placement of location on Subject line. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Onto another thought. How low of a price do I need to offer before BYOAC members will take me up on the laptop offers? This is a valid question. I will take offers at this point. I have other projects in mind and can use the green. I no longer need these laptops for any projects I am working on. They all are collecting dust. Surely someone can use them for other projects and or other purposes. Throw me an offer. As long as you feel it's not being given away for free and I agree, I am sure we can work something out. I have already had a couple PM's but have not heard back from anyone. Keep them coming.
Thanks, Shane

Can anyone confirm what this could or could not run. Also is there tv out?

The T42 model looks like it has an S-Video connection. I am not around a T30 model. I will check later... Thanks, Shane

Perhaps. There is the question of being orderly-minded. Anyways, my point was that it can still be edited.

Then my suggestion is for you to point to the thread by Peale or the line in the rules so he understands instead of people trying to be subtle without the OP understanding the point. No biggie now.... ;)

Thanks again Hoopz... I found out how to modify the subject line. I will do so for now on when needed to be applied.
Last offer for laptops. Price has been lowered. This will be the final price for the laptops before they are sent to an online auction site, such as Ebay....
List price for laptops are now $200.00. You pay for all shipping charges. There is a UPS store in my area so UPS will be choice of shipping. I do not have any boxes lying around so I may need to ask UPS to box which will add to the shipping charge.
As far as shipping quote, I am not sure how accurate the UPS website is, but you can get a quote estimate off of their site. If I was to guess, the laptops weigh anywhere from 7 - 9lbs.. Please account for box weight and packing material.
Thanks, Shane
