For some reason, my 2nd player joystick won't point directly up, left, right, or down.
I checked it out in the windows control panel under Gaming Devices. It'll register every other spot on the 49 way axis, but whenever I point to the cardinal directions, it considers the joystick 'centered'.
I plugged the joystick into my 1st player GP Wiz, and it works fine. Every point registers correctly. So I think it's something to do with the cable from the second joystick to the GP Wiz 49. There are about seven wires that go into the GPWiz - my supposition is that one of them is just making a loose connection. Does that make sense to others?
Does anybody know which wire I should check, or should I just adjust all of the wires for good measure?

Someone had the same problem a long time ago (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=43607.0).
Hmm, before I reread it, I was thinking your problem was one pin poor connection, but according to randy, the more common cause is the stick not centered at start.

Hmm. I will give that a try when I get home. Thanks for the heads up!

For the record, that was the problem. For some reason, the second Happ 49-way joystick doesn't want to re-center itself completely. It either sits a little down, or a little right. In the meantime, I manually centered the joystick and re-plugged power. Starts fine. Switching it to 8-way mode, I don't even noticed that it isn't centering properly. It'll do for now, but I'd like to get that fixed. I'm going to take it apart and clean it a bit and see if it helps.
