I currently have an old cabinet running mame. I would like to add a playstation2 to the cabinet and be able to switch back and forth. The controls are wired up through a keywiz max. Ultimarc makes an adapter for the ipac that lets you add ps2 output from the ps2 port on the ipac. I was wondering if this would also work with the keywiz or if there is a similar product that for the keywiz. here is the console adapter from ultimarcs site. http://www.ultimarc.com/psx.html
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

What are you using monitor-wise?
-
Right now i have a 21" Pc monitor. If necessary i could obtain a large Tv.
-
I have a video capture card that works rather well with the ps2. The only thing im really worried about is the controls.
-
Well for the controls you have a few options...
Get an Ipac and PS2 adapter.
Keep the Keywiz, hack some PS2 controllers, and wire them both to a switch (like a DB25 data switch)
Hack some PS2 controls, and get a PS2 to PC converter (like a Trio-linker plus)

Thanks for the reply. It would be nice if the ps2 adapter for the ipac was compatible with the keywiz. So the easiest and fastest option would be to replace the keywiz with an ipac. Are the dataswitches expensive?

A DB25 A/B data switch will run around $14.

Switch is ~7.50 + shipping here (bringing it to around 12-14):

monoprice is pretty good for that kind of stuff.

Thanks! thats a lot cheaper than the ones i was running across online. What would be the best way to wire everything to that switch?
-
Get some DB25 cables and breakout the wires, either yourself, or via a DB25 breakout board.

The breakout board looks like it would be a good option. I could get a 4 way switch and have multiple consoles inside the same cabinet. :) Thanks a lot for the help.
