Title: Flyback & Yoke Test??
Post by: jconstanza on October 27, 2008, 12:36:52 pm
How to you test these parts? Can I use a regular multimeter or do I need other type of equipment? What type of good/bad readings should I be getting? Are different models different in the way of testing and/or do I get different readings.

you can check the yoke with a multimeter set on ohms, there are two pairs of wires(normally red ,blue pair and green, yellow pair)

a standard cga reading would around 1.6 ohms horizontal and anything from 5 to 14 ohms vertical

i knew a few years back a fella tested flybacks by metering the ground pin to another, can't remember and i bet its different for every flyback

Flybacks can be tested (out of circuit) with a special meter called a flyback tester.

So there is no way to say 100% for sure that a flyback is good or bad when it is installed in the chassis?
