Well, here's the situation: My arcade's been set up for nearly three years without a hiccup. But, last month my computer's hard drive failed and I've started rebuilding everything.
I've installed the latest version of Mame and my front end of choice, but some of my favorite ROMs are causing crashes and some others aren't even showing up. On top of that, things just seem to be running sluggish with the newer version. I'm running older hardware (AMD 1500) So a couple of questions:
Do I have some sort of mismatch with my ROM set?
Should I just roll back to an older version of Mame?
What tools can I use to locate the issue?
Thanks for your help.

When you say 'my roms are causing crashes' do you mean MAME or Windows XP? In other words, when it crashes, are you forced to restart your machine?
Did you update your roms to the newer MAME version you installed? An auditing utility like Clrmamepro or Romcenter might be what you need.
I recommend you revert back to a previous MAME version (preferably before the graphics engine change [below 0.105 I think]) as it will definitely run better on your AMD XP 1500.

Yes, try to put the exact same mame version you add before.
Roms set change with mame versions...

Thanks for the insight guys.
I took your advice and rolled mame back to 1.08 (which is what I think I had before) and everything seems to be working just fine now. I'm going to keep an eye on it to see if I need to go back further though.
