I'm just about done with my showcase cabinet 60 in 1 conversion.
I just have to mount my Hap trackballs... Iv never done this before. The wiring is no problem, im just having issues with how i am supposed to mount this thing ?
Whats the easiest way ? I have an overlay that will go over it after its done. Do i need a mounting plate ? or can i just drill out the wood ?
Thanks

I was told to make a mounting plate... but i think that would be a waste of time.

much cheaper and easier :-)

I would like to add a question (sorry for hijacking). How much difference would it make if the CP would not be routered so the plate isn't flush? Could you cover the plate with an overlay?

Yup, a mounting plate is the easiest way to go.
No, you don't need to route a place for the plate, but... the plate is ~1/16" thick, so the top of the plate will be that far above the top of the rest of the CP. Covering with an overlay won't hide that (and if done wrong you can get wrinkled or torn or warped art work). Routing the 1/16" off the top of the CP for the plate isn't too hard, and doesn't have to be perfect if you cover it (gaps between plate and CP can be filled with putty).

Yup.. i will also be routing a spot for the trackball plate. So it sits flush.
Once its done... I will definetly post pics.
