Title: New USB joystick - have a look inside
Post by: arcader_1984 on October 18, 2008, 09:15:00 am
New retro USB joystick is now available:

http://www.legacyengineer.com/store.html

Look at the inside photo, hook ups for up to 10 buttons.     PCB could be used as an interface board for underneath arcade control panels.   Its all digital support, no trackball or other analog, but its a nice simple interface device.

Has a high poll rate, and no ghosting issues.

board is perfect for a 2-player nes cab with a shared 1-2 player start/select.

for anything more then 2 buttons a player 2 of these boards would be needed and probbaly be better off going with an ipac or keywiz type incoder for a couple bucks more and we know they have been proven to work great.

Nice.  I loved these back in the C64 days.

Yeah, I hope they're more durable than the original Atari's too...the weak part on those was the plastic ring that pressed the contact pads. Mine usually broke somewhere in the ring around the base with the contactors on it. After getting several replacements, and some other brands, my mom finally got us a pair of Wico bat handle sticks...never had one of those break ;D Used them up thru my C-64 and Amiga days, and still have them, although they don't get any use anymore.

I loved the almost non-existent throw on these and contemplated something like this, but hadn't really thought about how to hack them.

I always had a couple of rebuild kits on hand for when mine broke...
