Hey guys
Im using mame 106 with the hi score files, i was messing around in the service tab and it erased the score that was in galaga, it's not the greatest score but that besides the point. Am i able to restore the old score in the galaga.hi file
thanks

if you dig through the .hi file conversion thread, we've "decoded" galaga.hi files in there.
To restore your score you'd want to launch galaga, then exit. you should have a blank galaga.hi file.
You then open that galaga.hi file into a hex editor, such as winHex, and following our decoding instructions, you can edit your own file directly and give yourself a score no one can beat. :)

Actually HiToText has code in there so you can set the hiscore I just don't think there is a command line option for it yet.

I was actually wondering about this the other day because I got my best score on Centipede but accidentally messed up the initials. I see Centipede isn't covered by the .hi tools yet. Maybe I'll have to decode that one. :-\

I asked this a few years back, but I guess it wasn't possible then.
But, is there a way to reset all the high scores in all the games?
I think this would be a great feature.
This way only your family and friends high scores show up.
Some of the high scores are out of reach for alot of people.
It would be nice to know when you beat your own high score as well.

Just delete the GAMENAME.hi file under HI folder and its reset the score.

.....All this seems a lot of concern over very little. Occasionally I load a game in my particular set-up and the score has somehow been reset. I didn't do anything that I know of. Oh. Well. And how can you reset games from the TAB menu? Maybe you accidentally pressed F3 during it? Still depends on the game and mame version, though. Anyways....
