Can anyone recommend please for going in a cab.?
Thanks.
-
in my topic i am implementing the logitech z 2300
its tested very well @ tomshardware and other sites.
if you can find a good deal on it, its the way to go !
i bought it unused from 2nd hand market with receipt for just 90 euro

Don't go 2.1. Just go decent 2.0 or 2.2.
The things I read for the Logitech is that they have a huge gap in the middle-section of the audio spectrum. Exact the section where voice and most instruments are situated. They simulate much oomph in the lower end, and they have bright tweets, but nothing in between. I use normal midrange-tweeter combo's with a 2x80 watt amp, and that leaves the Logitech biting dust. Even the bass is better.
-
If you really want Logitech, take the 2200. They had 3 inch drivers instead of 2.25 inch.
-
well, it was just my 2 cents
review 2300

also knievels guitar hero cab has this set

The graph scares me! 117db at 32 Hz and at the same time 102dB at 500 Hz. That's 15dB difference! Not only are these levels insane, they are fare from flat. A good speaker does 50-20000 Hz within 3-5dB differences.

Isn't that a typical subwoofer gap? I thought they created those gaps on purpose to make things sound more "separated"
-
My floor standing speakers do the whole range without gap and without subwoofer. But the bass-driver is with its 260mm a lot bigger than the Z2300's. So actually the Z2300's sub is not a real sub, it is just a joined speaker to cover the lower end.
And gap's are never needed. Flat reproduction is the best to have. Actually there's even a lot of mainstream music that has amplified bass already on the disc. On flat speakers these discs sound terrible, not to mention reproduction of it on a oversaturated bass-setup like on thes logitechs!

what do you recommend then blanka? he is asking for 2.1
dont know if you can change his mind

That can actually help when you are partially deaf, since some freq's will sound distorted to you at any volume.
But the end result will be like something to come out of bose, but old people love that sound ;)

What's the point of comparing floor standing speakers with 260mm drivers to a PC speakerset with 2.5inch (63.5mm) drivers?
These speakers have to go into a cab. Floor standing speakers do not fit the requirements.
I doubt you can suggest some 2.0 speakers that would fit in a cab and that would surpass these Logitechs on sound quality and price.

The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set recommended in Saints book are awesome. More than enough power for a cab and if you want your cab to double as a jukebox they fit the bill for that as well. I got my set on E-bay for like $90 with shipping.

Hey Q... it's caqtain flint from hyperspace...
For a smaller set of 2.1 speakers, I agree with flake. Klipsch Promedia 2.1 are the best speakers I have ever tried! I have them in my juke, and I can rock out from any place in my house. They are impressive!
-
I'm just so happy with the sound coming out of my cab because I put some serious stuff in it. I thought I might share it here. The classics never sounded better
-
Klipsch Promedia 2.1 are nice but everything that is out there is either used or refurb.. I don't know if I want to risk buying something that could turn out to be junk.
I am looking for something I can buy direct from Newegg.
Logitech Z-2300 is rated best 2.1 on Newegg BTW.
BTW... I own Klipsch 5.1 setup now and the volume dial is junk on it. Sorta looks like the one from Logitech which has me worried. :-\

My 2 cents. I have Klipsch for my home theather set up and love them. They pack a nice punch in a small package. For my cab I am also still in debate of doing a 2.1 or just a 2 set up. My next project is a jukebox and I will go for the Klipsch 2.1's as thye are a nice set of speakers.

They are out of stock and have been. On Klipsch website they are out of stock and have been. I really don't think they are being made anymore...

Doh didn't see that, my bad
EDIT: Did some research, Klipsch is waiting for a shipment of the 2.1's, per a Klipsch admin. The shipment is "expected" to arrive late this month or November. So should be getting some in soon if you want to wait.

Nice for me, perfect timing for my Juke project is around then. :D

FYI Guys.
I called customer service at Klipsch today and the guy told me Jan. 2009 for these so I would not hold your breath. He also stated that they have been out of stock now months and he said that they will only be sold through their web store which = retail cost . ::)

Ouch

Yeah... I know.
I don't understand why they pull that kinda crap when there is still a demand for these, I mean months!
I told the guy on the phone that it was unfortunate; I was going to buy elsewhere.

It looks like one seller on Amazon.com has the Klipsch's new at a good price with reasonable shipping.

That person's feedback does not look too hot. :(
-
Well I bought the Klipsch 2.1 off eBay, thanks everyone.
-
Let us know what you think of them. I am really leaning towards these for my Juke project that I will ramp up next after the MAME cabinet is done.
-
Will do.
Like I said, I have the 5.1's now and they are nice so I will even be able to compare them to those as well.
