Title: trackball lighting
Post by: clickhea on October 12, 2008, 05:47:43 pm
I need a better solution other than litemite.  I dont like how far down the led sits i feel like alot of the light is wasted.

also, id like a white led light to lightup the blue 3" highball.

i dont see anything on groovygamegear.. unless iam over looking it.

If you don't need it to blink or change colors, these "Lazer" LED clusters work great:

Send me an email.  I have a new NOVA trackball lighting module that should do just what you want.  Bolts right up to a HAPP or Imperial Trackball using the existing light fixture mounting hole.   BTW, a blue light is much better than white to light up a blue trackball.

I really need to get this new stuff on the store.... :P

Hi I have a 3" High-Ball Trackball w/Harness, Blue Translucent from Happ.com wired to an OptiPac. What would you suggest lighting wise? It sounds like a bright blue led would work great. It would need to be able to be wired to my 5volt Optipac.

The same thing as above, assuming that the High-ball model has a similar light mounting configuration to the others.  I'm guessing it's the same base, so it probably does.   You'll need to come up with a cable to get the power from your interface.  Alternatively, you can send me a pic of what you are plugging it into (pinout) and I could likely make a special version for you at an additional cost.

... 3" High-Ball Trackball ... Happ....

Yes, all happs 3" TBs use the same part for the bottom half of the case.  The old atari 3" TBs should be exactly same too, but I don't own one of these old TBs, so I can't verify it.

FWIW, the only difference is the top half of the base.  Well, okay, and the sensor boards, old arcade green vs new arcade red vs USB.

Thanks for the verification!  That's good to hear.

FWIW, I also have an old WICO here that looks like the Imperial as far as the lighting is concerned, so that should be covered as well.

I'll try to get some pictures of the new lighting board for those who might be curious.

We had a few of these going out today, so I snapped a photo before they were packed up.

The one on the left is the single color version with the mounting hardware inserted in the "Imperial / WICO" position, and the one on the right is the RGB version with the hardware in the "HAPP / Atari" position.

These are using the NOVA light sources, so they are wide angle and each LED is the equivalent of 5 "superbrights".  That's the same as 5 and 15 superbright LED's respectively.
