Well I have deccided I want to get a PC monitor for the Mameroom Cabinet I am building but am having a heck of a time finding large ones (ideally 27" viewable).
I am going to try using the ultimarc ArcvadeVGA2 as it claims to reproduce the classic look on PC monitors. This also gives flexibilty on playing newer games on the cabinet as well. (Sound good to you guys? think that's a good idea?)
Anyways, does anyone know of a SVGA monitor that still exists which is ideally 27" and fits in the Mameroom cabinet?
It's hard to find CRT monitors that big nowaday since they are all widescreen and lcd!
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

If you're stateside, hunt down any "Computer Renaissance" stores - they stock old, refurb computer gear. I've seen some pretty mammoth 800x600 vga monitors flow in and out of those places. That, and EPC -

Here ya go.

Or you could get one of these:

Or use a 27" CRT HDTV like this one:

If I had the space I'd go with the first option myself.

Hey thanks for the links! Will definately check em out....
I also found that NEC MultiSync XM29 is supposed to be really good to use but IMPOSSIBLE to find (at least in my area...Los Angeles)
And yeah that MakVision looks good! ;D
If any of you are familiar with the NEC XM29 (in case one miraculously appears)... do you think that's better than the MakVision?
-
I know this guy is using the Makvision for his project and really seems to like it:

You may want to ask him for some info about it.

Do you plan on decasing the XM29 once you get it, cause it would be a nightmare if my XC37 is anything to go by. There are four different motherboards plus like 3 more pieces of hardware inside.
In the case it should be perfect as long as it will fit in your cabinet. I think Snaaaaake built a custom cabinet arund one.

Thanks Todd will check out that guys link....
Jack... IF (and thats a big if !) I do happen to get my hands on the NEC I don't think I will have to decase it, it should fit right in the mameroom cabinet.

Did you say"big"... we do a 39" tri-res. But it is analogue. A friend of mine has one installed in a Dynam cabinet and is hoping to get mame running in the next wek or so. He is using a standard VGA card and leaving it at 640X480 (31Khz)

39" is HUGE and awesome! I would love to see a mame cabinet with that bad boy in there....too big for my cabinet I'm sure but the fact that it exists is AWESOME! 8)
