Besides simply deleting a rom for the actual rom folder is there an easier way to delete a game from Maximus while in the FE?

No there is not... and I don't think having the option to physically delete a rom completely would be a bad function to add to a front end. If you don't want the rom, go delete it from the folder and stop being lazy. ;)

I think this is a good feature for a FE. I don't think it's being lazy to do it in the FE as you can select a game you haven't played, play for 30 seconds and then delete it. ;D
Plus, you don't have to try and figure out if the file you are deleting is the proper rom. I don't want my FE showing me the name of the rom as I prefer to see the name of the game. Deleting from the FE avoids any problems.

Now who says I'm being lazy?? Are you making assumptions? Who says I haven't already gotten a my roms down to a short list that I might just want to do a quick delete once in awhile?
Seriously though...yes my rom lists are super long and I will be needing to delete a bunch of roms as time goes on. I was just looking for a short cut. You got me ;D
Thanks for the quick answer...I was looking everywhere for it!!

As for a front end that has this feature... I know one, but it's for the XBox.
I have MAMEoX for the Xbox which is essentially a MAME port by the Xport crew.
In the front end, there is an option to "remove" the rom you have highlighted. By selecting that option you are removing the rom from the list and the rom itself gets moved to a folder named "backup". That way the delete is non-destructive.
As for Maximus, this feature is indeed built in, although it does not move the rom. You have to enter the preferences screen and click on the "Game List" tab.

Some people call it lazy... I call it convenient! ^-^

GameEx allows you to delete a game from the gamelist from within the frontend but it doesn't actually delete the rom, it just removes it from the gamelist. That way you still have the rom in case you change your mind.
